If You Need to be Ill, Make it on a Weekday
I’m really tired so I’m going to make this quick, hop in the shower, and hop in bed. And probably drown myself in drool haha. I don’t even know why I drool so much, I must have very slack mouth muscles.
Do we even have mouth muscles?
I think if I don’t watch myself over the course of the next few days I am asking for a great big cold or something along the same level of pain and discomfort. I feel slightly under the weather and have done for the past couple of days.
Firstly, I have a couple of mouth ulcers, one of which is on my tongue. I never get mouth ulcers so their rare appearance rings many alarm bells. Secondly, I just feel generally “heaty”. Thirdly, I’ve been getting many leg cramps of late. Fourthly, the left side of my jaw really really hurts like someone punched me in the face, although I hasten to assure all of you that this has not really occurred. It’s a bit of a mystery to me actually why my left jaw would hurt as it was normal one minute, and hurting like mad the next. I’ve made an appointment with my surgery to have it looked at but true to form, they’ve only got an appointment midweek next week. I really don’t understand the health service over here, I’ve scarcely seen anything so inefficient.
So that’s it. The list of my ailments to date. Well I also have slightly sore legs, but that’s due to all the jogging and walking up stairs at work that I’ve embarked on of late, so that’s at least explainable and justified.
Okay I’m taking myself off to bed. Got to keep my strength up for the weekend! What a pity it would be to be ill during the weekend, can you imagine?

I Keep Thinking It’s Thursday But It’s Not So I’m A Bit Sad
Today was kind of an eventful day. For a lazy person like me.
Went to work as usual (no escaping that!) and met Huon for lunch. She was half an hour late so I stood outside Woolworths for quite a bit looking slightly dodgy. But seriously, do I even look like the type to nick chocolate bars? Well, maybe. Maybe I had this ravenous look on my face hahaha. Anyway she brought her two daughters, and we sat down on a random bench for a natter (as we didn’t have enough time to eat seeing as how half my lunch hour was over) whereupon the younger of the daughters promptly decided to do a poo in her nappy. Haha. The smell!
Her husband, Qua, is coming down to London this Sunday night, staying a day on Monday, and bringing the whole family back home to this godforsaken town up north on Tuesday. We will probably try to meet up for a meal on Monday night since it’s a rare occurence for him to be down in London; he’s normally down only during special occasions, like weddings.
So this means that if I actually turn up to everything I’ve been invited for next week, I’ll have a really full schedule after work:-
Monday – Dinner/drinks with Huon and Qua
Tuesday – Jogging in park with Andy
Wednesday – Seeing Ka’s friend’s band play a gig in Clapham
Thursday – Korean dinner with Pa and Pu and Eri
Friday – Theatre with ML.
I think I’ll definitely be skipping the Thursday dinner. Not sure about the rest.
We went jogging in the park after work! I think I quite like jogging. Well I like the feeling after a jogging session, more like. Jogging in itself is both quite boring and tiresome. It’s the thought that I’m doing some good to myself which I like and which carries me through. Plus it’s new enough to be fresh and exciting at the moment. Two weeks down the line and I’ll probably be able to muster up enough motivation only to crawl down the track hahaha.
But yah, we went jogging. I feel so accomplished. Apparently one circuit round our local park is 3.5 miles. That’s quite far for a previous non-jogger like me!
And right after our healthy run, we hopped into the car and went to MacDonald’s. HAHA!

Dear Diary
Dear Blog,
How are you? I hope this entry finds you well.
Today I went to work. It was mind-numbingly boring as usual. When the time came to leave the premises I sped out of there so fast I almost broke my ankles.
I cooked GA’s sour tamarind chicken for dinner today. It was okay. Andy enjoyed it. I ate some, then ate the rest of my pack of 12 falafels straight after. Falafels smell like armpits after having being microwaved. That is the falafels being microwaved, not the armpits.
ML wants to watch a performance at the open air theatre with me next Friday. But she is sketchy with her times available so I can’t book tickets as yet. This is the same open air theatre as the one I was at last Friday. They seem to specialise in productions set in the 1920s, or maybe it is a matter of coincidence that Lady Be Good and The Boy Friend are both set in the 20s and involve a lot of Charleston dancing. People who existed in the 1920s must have been really happy because smiling is infectious when viewing the Charleston. I suppose for the dancers it must have been even more joyful.
Well, one day down and three more to go till the weekend!

Last Day of the August Bank Holiday Weekend
It’s over.
The long weekend is over :’(
How sad! Back to work tomorrow!
The only good thing about this week is that it’s a four day week. Roll on Friday! I already have plans for the weekend, so I am looking forward to it, as usual. Well even if I didn’t have plans, I suspect I’d still look forward to the weekend. Haha.
Now, none of you will even begin to correctly guess where Andy and I went this morning. We went jogging!!! I know, amazing. We just thought we’d do something different for a change and try to get a bit fit and all. So we got up at 9am, washed our faces and off we went to the park near our house.
I’d never walked the whole circumference of the park before so it was really interesting to see the whole of it. It’s actually rather pretty. There were loads of old people about, walking their dogs. Quite sweet and quaint.
Not quite so sweet and quaint was my bright red face clashing with my pink Coca-Cola t-shirt. I am seriously very unfit. I started my jog and I was already out of breath after about 20 steps. I was wheezing and panting and huffing and puffing and gasping, “Stop! Stop! I’m tired!” and when I really stopped and was bent over clutching my knees, Andy was a bit incredulous, he said, “Oh really? You’re kidding right?”, smiling with a “Come on joker, don’t lie” look on his face. How rude. Haha. Anyway I had no problems with the actual physical exercise, as in, my legs were holding up fine, it was just my breathing that went slightly wrong. But hopefully this will change soon because we’ve decided to go jogging after work two nights a week and once every weekend. Well that’s the plan, let’s see if it really happens.

Golden Lion Tamarins Are My New Favourite Animals!
We went to the zoo today.
I’m beginning to really love Regent’s Park. It’s pretty and has so many different bits to it; there’s so much to do and see, and with it all, it carries an air of gentility and a better mannered time gone by.
We were so lucky and managed to find parking near the zoo on a single yellow line haha. That was £10 saved! To park in the zoo carpark the charge is £10 per day. And if the carpark is full, you’ll have to park at the pay and display spaces at the side of the road, of which there is an abundance, but it’s £1.20 per hour for those. Andy’s eagle eyes spied one of the very few single yellows along a sideroad though, so we were really pleased with ourselves.
The zoo was as a zoo should be. Same old, lots of animals hiding (haha) and kids crying (not so haha) and bad food stalls. Cool. We had lots of fun pointing out the reptiles and other animals to each other. I love the hide and seek aspect of going to a zoo, it’s brilliant. It’s like playing Where’s Wally? with lots of different species.
We were going to take a barge along the canal to Little Venice for lunch. That would have taken 35 scenic minutes but we didn’t in the end because whilst we could have travelled from the zoo to Little Venice, we couldn’t travel back from LV to the zoo because the zoo wouldn’t allow anyone to get off at their stop. Rightly so too because otherwise everyone would just take the barge to the zoo and enter through the backdoor to avoid paying the £16 entrance fee. So we decided to skip it and go another day by car. This is after sitting for 20 mins at the canal stop waiting for the waterbus to arrive. But that was fun too actually because it was really tranquil by the canal, and nice to see all the people strolling by with their picnics, and the barges sailing by. It was like the passing of time didn’t matter at all at that spot. Which is really a healing experience. Very uplifting!
So we went to Bond Street and I finally ate my waffles! It wasn’t so good this time round for some reason. I suppose I was really hungry when I had it last time. Anyway this means that I am over them, which is great haha.
All in all, I’ve been having a great weekend so far! And tomorrow’s bank holiday. Life is so good, I’m so happy =)
